Found this truck 8/09 for sale. The woman selling it was the daughter of the mother. Her father bought it new 5/24/86 in Clarksville, TN. He drove it for about 1 1/2 years and passes away.At the time the truck had 35,000 miles. His wife keeps the truck under the carport for the next 21 years. She puts her trash in the back and takes it to the drop off about once a week. The last couple years she did not use it but she wanted to get it running again and there mechanic came to the conclusion the carburetor needed overhauled and they decided to just to sell it. Paid 1,000.00 USD for it. First thing I found out was the fuel in it was just old, nasty, rusty, etc so I drained cleaned, cleaned lines put new fuel in but still has a clogged jet in the carb. Ordered a carb through National Carburetor in Jacksonville, Fl and as of today still waiting. Timing belts replaced, new radiator hoses, bypass hose, change trans fluid and filter, change brake fluid, change power steering fluid, valve cover gasket, new oil sender and put a muffler and tailpipe on. Just waiting on the carb to put on, I think I'm going to keep the original for future failures. But not a bad truck for 23 years. I used to own a 1980 Plymouth Champ with the twin stick and man I had alot of fun out of that car, my whole family in the 80's drove them and I have a brother today that still does. Wish me luck on this carb and I will post wants running.
