Re: project mighty simple

The Ram50/MM frame needs to be z'd to lay totally flat because the front crossmember sits too low in relation to the rear, causing the front to sit higher than the rear. Raising the front crossmember puts the bottom of the crossmember flush with the frame. Z'ing and new carrier and tranny crossmembe...

Re: what can the stock rear-end take

If you're really worried about the power, swap an a-body mopar 8 3/4 axle under it- thats good for all the way up to 440s and hemis, and gives you 5x4 1/2 bolt pattern as well

Re: Is this a good deal?

I picked up an 86 Ram 50 2wd custom 2.0 5 spd with air, but not running - clean body with very little rust bottom of one fender and inside of 1 rocker and 75k original miles for 350. 250 is good for that - my interior is there too but I am replacing it all anyways.

Re: MAP and TPS sensors on MJLJ

You need both - the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor is for the change in intake pressure (airflow measurement), and the tps is the throttle position sensor. Some setups use a MAF (mass airflow) sensor in place of the MAP. Neither will directly control the timing, but are information the ecm ...

Re: Help! Nobody Has Paired Port Exhaust Manifold Anymore!

I will post them once I find where I put them - I have been relocating my stuff due to a divorce and put them in a box in my garage. I may sell the 2.4 header, I will let you know if I do. Unfortunately, I have over 100 good sized boxes to look through, although the car parts are all in one area.

Re: Help! Nobody Has Paired Port Exhaust Manifold Anymore!

I also have a paired port race header for the 2.4 I bought before the 2,0 paired port one. It has bigger tubes on it into the collector - I will take pics of them this afternoon and post them for comparison

Re: carb Help

If the jets are no longer available, you could drill them out, but it is a one shot deal. Try ebay; it can be a great source for obsolete parts or maybe whole carbs for spare jets to drill out. Also you could try the junkyards for 80's mopar front drivers with 2.2 motors - thy ran that carb from the...

Re: Manual valve adjustment specs

That spec is correct for manual lash adjustors with a stock cam. The mechanical lash adjustors were used up to and including 1984; 1985 and up were hydralic lash adjustors

Re: Help! Nobody Has Paired Port Exhaust Manifold Anymore!

I wouldn't be making the headers, just the parts to assemble them. The last time this was tried, it fell flat on its face due to lack of money put towards it. I still don't know if we could make the thing since Pacesetter probably owns the copyright. But I will look into it to give people an idea wh...

Re: Webber Carb

E is right about the install and the studs - the short ones go on the side closest to the valve cover. The critical vacuum hose is the switched port one that goes to the distributor advance. The line from the evap canister goes to the fitting off the bottom of the air cleaner. It is also a good idea...

Re: exhaust

2" is the size for the stock exhaust - take your pick of brands - flowmaster, dynamax, magnaflow, and on and on. For the best results, have a muffler shop make new pipes from the cats back; there are usually 2 cats - 1 in the exhaust manifold, and one just below. If you are running the stock ca...

Re: Help! Nobody Has Paired Port Exhaust Manifold Anymore!

A while back someone was talking about making paired port headers if a good one was around as a master. I have a brand new pacesetter paired port header for my 86 that could be used for this project, but I am not going to loan it out to just anyone. I will check with a friend of mine who owns a Mein...

Re: Control arm shaft replacement

And replace them with urethane - rubber goes bad in 5 to 10 k miles. The strut rod bushing should also be replaced, also available in urethane - be sure to count the exposed threads on the strut rods as they affect the front end alignment

Re: Control arm shaft replacement

The nuts on the end of the shaft do not both spin it the same direction - the front spin ccw to loosen and the rear spins cw. Also understand that the nuts are part of your alignment, so count the turns on each nut to insure your're close to original to be able to drive to shop for alignment when do...
