Re: Seattle, WA

I saw in your other posts that you are looking for some custom parts. If you don't mind some work, check out how others took f/s 73-87 chevy truck billet grilles and made phantom grilles for the 2nd gen like yours. Its looking good, welcome to the forum!

Re: Having trouble starting my truck

There is also a starter relay near the fuse block that can cause that problem, although I have never had to replace one on my 1980.

Re: Steelers beat the officials and the Ravens AGAIN

Once the second half started, the Ravens never got back on the field. They only had those points because of how the officials let plays run long after they should have been blown dead. The "fumble" that gave the Ravens a second touchdown in 29 seconds was the most blatant abuse of letting ...

Re: Center caps?

Which wheels, steel or factory spoke? The spoke wheel centers are SS and clean up easily. The steel wheels had a hubcap, at least on 1st gen.

Steelers beat the officials and the Ravens AGAIN

Despite the best efforts of the NFL officials, the Steelers came back from being down 21-7 to beat the hapless Ravens 31-24. The officials went way out of their way to allow plays to run when they were dead, heaped extra penalties and failed to call several against the Ravens. But the Steeler defens...

Re: clutch cable interchangabilty

Since when does a diesel have a cable for the clutch / If it does, someone either swapped a gas tranny into a diesel truck, or swapped a diesel motor into a gas truck. Which is it? And yes, the gas clutch cable will work, it is a gas clutch setup.

Re: 88 2.0L Idle Problem

it is a air injection valve that goes from the air cleaner into the exhaust maniford to dilute the exhaust before the second cat. If it sticks open it causes a massive exhaust leak. If you don't have to deal with emissions, remove it and plug the fitting in the exhaust manifold.

Re: Narrow block?

Not all 2.6s are wide blocks. 2.6s from 79-86 with an auto are narrow block. 87 up all 2.6s are wide blocks.

Re: 5 speed conversion

Yes, the trans crossmembers are all different, as well as the front half of the drive shaft. You will need to change the speedo cable and make sure you have the right speedo gear to match the gears and speedo (85 or 120). There is a jumper you must install to eliminate the neutral safety switch, or ...

Re: Automatic transmission shift kits

If its the 4sp OD, try force 10 transmissions - they have them and is common for the starquest autos. They may even have them for the 3 sp auto; look them up.

Re: What carb to blow thru?

The weber 38DGES is the one to use for the blow through setup. The carb is almost infinitely tunable, and the parts to set it up for blow through use are readily available. If you really want to go exotic, my Conquest 2.6 turbo motor is going to have a dcoe40 weber side draft in a draw through setup...

Re: Having trouble starting my truck

Auto or manual? If auto, check your neutral safety switch; if manual, could be the ignition switch on the column, corroded wiring on the starter or battery cables, or a failing starter.

Re: Need help with a part.

Pacesetter makes a header for the 2.6 that has a bung in the collector reducer for the O2 sensor, which you will need if you are still using the stock carb. It is an even port header - same space between all the ports. Doug Thorley also made a header for the 2.6 but I don't know if they have any lef...

Re: 90 max 2.4 idle/ run issues

Your ECM could also cause this issue - caps dry out on the curcuit board and cause all kinds of problems. With the age of these trucks, an ecm recap is damn near essential to have it run right.

Re: 92 2.4L MM running bad

I would clean the throttle body real good and make sure all bolts and nuts are tight on intake and exhaust. Run some Redline synthetic fuel injection cleaner through it - the whole bottle in a full tank of gas. Depending on the mileage, change out the O2 sensor. Also make sure all vacuum lines are g...

Re: Missing Plate

There is a plate under the intake manifold that covers an access hole to the upper balance shaft on 2.6 blocks. I may have extras lying around I will try to find one if you need it.

Re: Need help with a part.

It is the reed valve assembly and is part of the air injection systems for emissions. Good luck finding one any good, although I may have one on my 86 2.0 that I won't be needing, as I am putting a header on it when I get it running right.

Re: 88 2.0L Idle Problem

It is a reed valve, used in place of an air pump to inject air into the cat to dilute the exhaust gases. The valve only opens when a cylinder fires and spent gases are pushed out the exhaust manifold. If the valve is bad(stays open) it will cause a huge exhaust leak and the motor will run like crap....
