Oil Pressure High

Oil Pressure High

Postby NCKidd16 » Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:54 am

Just rebuilt my 2.6 in my 88 ram 50 and it runs fine. But the oil press. Is about 35-40 psi idling and almost 100 running 60 mph turning about 2300 rpms. Is this normal oil pressure for these motors?

Has it always ran those pressure. Its almost peggin my gauge cruising. I have heard that to high of oil press will blow the oil filter off. But idk? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Mine has always run a little over half on the gauge. Pegged is a little high. Probably won't be any problem in the near future, long term who knows. When you rebuilt did you use the same oil pump?

Thanks for the replys guys. No I used the new pump that came with my rebuild kit. Other than replacing everything the only thing I changed was I installed a balance shaft elmination kit. But I wouldn't think that would effect it.
