Is there a way to correct the choke on High Idle? I was supposed to swap to a weber today but gotta fix my van. I think I got the factory carb running right. Its just the Choke High Idle has to be turning at least 3,000 RPMs. Its a 89 2.0 5 speed. Also what would cause the brakes to lock up briefly when ya apply the brakes for the first 5 mins of driving?
thanks

Is it the rear brakes or front, There should be a screw for the carb on the linkage on the step linkage up near the top of it.

Thanks for the carb info. As far as the brakes its the front brakes. I replaced the Calipers, wheel bearings, Rotors, Pads, Tie rod End's inner and outer, Pitman arm, Idler Arm. 2 new tires on the front and had a Front end Alaignment done also. But that was 6 months ago

Front thats strange. Is it inder light applaction of the pedel or how hard? I rember my truck doing that for some time. I want to say proportioning vave I can't rember if the trucks have a reset butten on them or not. Some do. If so push the thing. I changed the fluid on my truck and I think I took a sander to the roter but just a light touch. If you look in the manual area you will find a first gen manual. That will give you a flow chart to go down. It may noght be the corect book for your truck but the information is the same. Let me know.

I am leaning more to replacing the rotors. The ones I bought were cheap as hell from a little known parts store down here in FLorida. I think I paid like $25 for the pair. But will try to find the rest button. On the short note I can't find the High Idle screw. I tried the screw that was closest to the high Idle and no avil. I even tried the method in the manual. Which points me sorta somewhat in the right direction. But I could not get the high idle to drop.

Holy Cheap Parts Batman! What did you do, buy them out of the back of a van?

Actually I bought them from a local auto parts place called Xpress Auto Parts. I have no idea where thier parts come from. Heck I had to buy a Radiator for my 2000 Dodgr Grand Caravan 3.3 Flex fuel. Autozone and Advance auto parts wanted $300 for it. Xpress Auto wanted $100. That was 2 yrs ago. My van still is running good. But Still want to shoot myself for paying $400 for the factory Carb from autozone. Wish I knew about this place before I bought it 3 yrs ago. As far as the brakes it only does it when I take off and apply the brakes. Its like ya softly hit em and the brakes lock up. No different feel in the pedal as normal braking.

There is a high idle screw, I'll look in my 88 Ram 50 service manual to pin point it. As for brakes, caliper pistons can stick if hoses "collapse". Why in 1st 5 minutes of driving, not sure. The proportioning valve should only take away braking force to the front brakes if there is a load in the bed. Contact me at
wizard_rpd@yahoo.com and I can attach a scan of the service manual fast idle adjustment procedure. Randall
