first mike, you need a cover on that receptical. . and how do the balance shaft bearings look. have you considered a bse kit and having the rotating assy balanced? not sure what your using this motor in. but it looks like 10thou should clean the bore and a polishing on the main journals. than

you should have some oil squirters put in too if he has the extra $$$$$$. but if it is a build on a budget,,,,,than it would be on the cheep. you giong to be able to reuse the pistons or are the shaped like eggs?

Please excuse this threadjack. However I have a question. Oil squirters, while I know these are standard on the turbo blocks, can they be used on a "normal" block? Reason asking is now that I can get my dad's truck, I'm thinking of putting the 4g63 in that and rebuilding my G54B that has oil squirters. Sorry again about the threadjack.

Well I'll have to look at it all again when I get home in Dec. But my pistons were flat top pistons...the motor was pulled from Ethan's old truck. Here's what I'm wondering. How cheaply I can put the motor together for just to get her moving. Something to actually be able to drive for about a year. Cause I plan on one day putting that 4g63 in her. Just don't have all the parts I want yet. I'm seeing on Ebay the rebuild kits aren't too bad. My block checks out...cylinders are not egg shaped and look beautiful. So wondering if I could skip some of the machine shop costs. I don't know guys. But seriously considering this. I could sell some RC shit to help pay for the rebuild to keep the wife off my ass too!

ah,,,,,,,,,nice. yea those seem to be a high wear item in all the silent shaft motors. i had one lockup on the bearing and spun in the block and the other was so loose you could wrap a phone book around it and still put it in lol. dont the silent shafts turn 2x engine speed????if so when you rev her up to 7grand your shafts are going 14 grand....yipes

Very smart to dollop the bolts and nuts with Whiteout/Paint after torqueing. I also number the rods and pistons with a sharpie.

.050 over Pistons? isn't that stretching it a bit? or do the G54B's have thicker walls than the 4G64?
