4g63 turbo rebuild

4g63 turbo rebuild

Postby 4doorciv » Sun Jul 11, 2010 9:40 pm

How's it going. I recently blew the 4g63 turbo engine I have in my truck. Ran out of oil and pulled to the side of the road added a quart of oil I had in the cab as a just in case to make it home. On the freeway it mad a weird sound and pulled over. Checked for anything leaking and the fluids. Cranked the engine till it made a few thuds and it locked up. Oh well, rebuild soon. Right now I got a spare 2g eclipse head and my complete g63b to work with along side what I can still use off motor in the truck right now. Still will make use of my web cams 546/547 and gears and such. Hopefully the head itself is still good. Ima tear open the engine as soon as I got the time. I know Ima order the jay racing alternator relocator kit and the balance shaft eliminator kit as well as new pistons and rods. Don't know who to go with, or if my arp headstuds are reuseable. :?

Hopefully I have the time to get it running by next month cause I know my funds are limited.

Man that sucks. I don't know crap about this motor...that's why I'm over at Jeremy's site whenever I have questions.

ARP headstuds are reusuable, so reuse them. the GM alt upgrade is a must do for a modded D-50/Mitsu - 45 amp stock just doesn't cut it. Been running a 100amp gm for 20+ years on my 1980 D-50 with no problems.

Sorry for the late response. Been a little busy I actually did the complete 4g63 swap with Thas alternator and everything. Signed up on dsmtuners for advise and tips. I'm going to be rebuilding the g63b and using the things to make the dsm stuff work with the g63b block. The local dsm site I'm on said ti use the 2g eclipse pistons with the 1g eclipse rods. Learned a few things from dsmtuners like don't use this setup unless I got some means to pull back the ignition timing like dsmlink. Ill need it anyway to get the engine to idle with the webcams. I still have yet to pull anything of the engine cause I don't got too much time to work on it. Still got a daily driver so its not too important to pull allnighters on. And gotta build up cash to buy parts.

Yeah thats the favorite build for the 4G63T. The 1G rods are stronger and the 2G pistions give higher compression, you just have to convince them they were made for each other. :)

Thats what i here. Just cant seem to find a eprom ecu locally. I just might go with an aem standalone unit. Had one in my 4 door civic but never tuned it. So I gotta put the engine together first cause i Wont have enough to cover the computer for like a month. Just got a raise today, supposedly. Hopefully I'll see it in my next paycheck. Then I can start the rebuild.
