Manual valve adjustment specs

Manual valve adjustment specs

Postby yamahlr » Mon Mar 07, 2011 4:26 pm

When I had my head done, I changed to manual adjustment instead of hydrolic lifters. Since my relocation I can't locate the spec sheet at the momnet. Does anyone have an idea what year the D50 / Ram 50 had manual adjusted valve clearance. My 87 factory shop manual doesn't list such specs. If I can find the year(s) I'll purchase that manual off Ebay.
Great job on the new site guys.
I had thought about doing a live webcam on rebuilding my 10HP Wheel Horse tractor but the whole class 6 thing seems more interesting
Keep up the good work,I'm sure it was extremely labor intensive.

That spec is correct for manual lash adjustors with a stock cam. The mechanical lash adjustors were used up to and including 1984; 1985 and up were hydralic lash adjustors

From the Haynes manual.

Cold assembly prior to start-up

Intake .004
Exhaust .007

Jet valve 83 & earlier .007
84-92 .007

After warm-up to operating temperature, re-adjust to:

Intake .006
Exhaust .010

Jet valve 83 & earlier .006
84-92 .010

that's in inches.
