Johnboy's back!

Ok, so back from Iraq finally and it's time to put some work into the truck when I'm not trying to spend time with the family. Thankfully my wife knows I have some ADD or OCD so she's supportive and understands when I have to go into the garage! Just ordered a clutch and grille. Trip to the local yard yesterday resulted well in finding 4 nice 2nd gens and one old beat up 1st gen 4wd. So since I'm going back to a clean stock look, found a damage free newer bumper with brackets, some interior pieces, chrome Mazda mirrors, door panels, etc. It's good to be back and can't wait to start working on the truck!

Welcome back. Glad you came back in time for Christmas. Wanna share pictures of that junkyard score?

Bumper

One of the door panels with arm rests. Kind of a downgrade on the armrests over my stock but mine are light gray. So picked up the plastic ones to match the panels.

I'll have to get batteries for the camera for the interior pieces. Just waiting on some parts to finish putting the frontend back together.

Great to see you made it back in one piece, and kept the truck. Does the 1st gen truck have the trim pieces around the cab to cover the metal? They are very hard to find, but it dresses up the interior greatly - my 1980 has a set in it and I need a set for the 86 I will soon be working on.

The body on that 1st Gen was pretty rough. Inside, the cab was stripped for the most part and a pile of plastics on the floor. Couldn't even tell ya if it was from that truck. I didn't give it much attention to be honest, it was that rough. This junkyard was pretty cool. I saw what I consider "junkyard unicorns"...like Mustangs, Toyotas, Camaros, etc. Hell, they had a couple of mid 80's corvettes and even a 67 Mustang (complete rust bucket). But yeah, all 2nd Gens there were fairly straight. I was amazed, just wish this yard was there before I deployed cause I could have saved some coin and still have all new body parts including bed!

Hey man can you take a pic of the brackets for the plastic bumper, I can't find them ANYWHERE. I might have to make some.

I already mounted it...You want me to go pull those brackets for you? There two on either side that keep the bumper snug to the fender. Then there's a center one with an attachable bar on the bottom. I already pulled it from the truck so it was left laying on the ground. It's at the LKQ yard in Savannah. Google their site and might get the prices. But I just got the new grille in so I actually have a box that I could ship it in.
