Missing Plate

Postby MiniRam » Wed Jan 12, 2011 6:05 pm

The shop doing the install says that my new engine needs a plate on the block covering the balance shafts, but my old engine does not have this feature. Does anyone know what he is talking about?

There is a plate under the intake manifold that covers an access hole to the upper balance shaft on 2.6 blocks. I may have extras lying around I will try to find one if you need it.

I need one. I will pay for rush shipping too. Why does my old block not have that feature at all?

Some 2.6 blocks didn't have them - don't know why.

If you can find one I would be most appreciative.

I have these plates new in stock. They cost me $15 from the dealer and the gasket is $7.00 (Expensive but worth it. The chinese gasket which come in engine kits don't work and are crap). Another $3.00 for the 2 screws and o'rings.

Good luck on used ones as they always leak due to being out of square.

If you want the best, I agree with Warme and get a new one - guarenteed not to leak for being out of square.
