1st gen plug to nowhwere related to headlights?

i have been resurrecting a 1st gen diesel d50, and i have no headlights. i can't seem to locate a proper wiring diagram, and the best i can figure is this plug is somehow attached to the battery probably via some sort of fusible links/fuses.

it is a 6 prong socket located on the driver side right near the battery.

any help would be appreciated...

thanks mike. that is the same diagram i have, but it does not seem to indicate this junction. and this junction has continuity with the light sockets.

perhaps you or someone could tell me where "multipurpose fuse" 12, 14 and 15 are. the only fuses i have are the ones are 8 under under the dash. none of these are for the headlights.

You think the connector is for the fusable links? Sorry, I got a 2g truck. Mines are a little further back and in a weird box a little closer to the firewall.

The headlights are fused through the fusebox, not the fusable links. squeeze the tabs together for the headlight fuses then replace the fuses into the holder. also check the fuses themselves, as when the holders get weak, they can start to vibrate ultrasonically and melt the solder out of the end of the fuse, but the fuse appears good.

Hmmm.

My Fuse Cover (1992 mind you) diagrams it like this:

Top Row

1 Room, 2 Hazard, 3 Stop, 4 Horn, 5 Radio, 6 Wiper, 7 Turn, 8 Back, 9 Heater, 10 Blank

Bottom Row
11 Blank, 12 Tail, 13 Blank, 14 Head-L, 15 Head-U, 16 (Rear Fog), 17 Blank, 18 (Door Lock), 19 (DeFogger), 20 ABS (C/U)

So I think you may need to add some fuses...10 AMP for #12 15 AMP for 14 & 15.

yes, the diagram i have and the one online here is for a 2nd gen. the headlights go through the main fuse at 14 and 15. the first gen is different. there are only 8 fuses and none are for headlights that i can tell.

i believe the plug i am holding is where the headlight relay plugs in.

there is a bifurcating fusible link on the firewall passenger side right under the hood. one is red. one is blue. the blue one protects the headlights.

now if i only had a book that told me that (that is now on the way) instead of tracing wires everywhere...

So you found the problem? Good for you. So what about the connector? Test clip maybe?
