I am writing in from NJ and I have a 4X4 Mighty Max that I will be starting the restoration/modification on in 2011. These trucks are extremely rare up here in the NE of the country now, and when my friend in North Carolina found a clean one in the recycling yard by him, I had him buy it and tow it up to me, so I now have a pretty clean 1990 V6 5 spd model sitting in the yard...

It has no engine right now, but it is a stock V6 model, which means the V6 out of a 3000GT(VR4 maybe) will bolt right in.
I've got a gameplan worked out for the truck that will take some time and cash to put together, but I'm determined to pull it off. We'll see what happens

Interesting choice of an intro title. Great find on the truck and do hope you pull it off dropping the vr4 engine in it. Would you keep it force fed or stick to na for now. What else are your plans? Do hope for a build thread in the near future.

Thanks for the greetings guys. I have a game plan for this truck already because I've been wanting another one for a while now. my first new car ever was an '89 Mighty max 2WD, and now that I'm a little older and smarter, I can pull off the exact truck I wanted back then. This truck is coming down to bare frame rails for the rebuild, and what I can have sandblasted and powdercoated I will, including the frame. The brake lines will be redone in stainless steel as well as the exhaust, the entire suspension will be rebuilt and improved, the body will be sandblasted in pieces and repainted Chevy Colorado copper, I'm still undecided on 31" or 33" tires after I complete the body lift, and I'll hand make a pushbar, sidesteps, and tubular rear bumper out of exhaust tubing and fill them with liquid plastic to maintain form, and probably bolt on a few million candle power of lights and run a air horn set up just to be obnoxious. Custom 4X4's are rare around this area and Mighty Max's are non existant any more , so I just want something different. I'm also still undecided on N/A application or Turbo version of the 6G72, it's going to depend on how far I want to get into rewiring the truck. The trans is all getting rebuilt and all the pieces heat/cryo treated. As far as I know, there was no RWD application for the 4 cam 6G72, so there will be a few hurdles getting it running and cooled, but I'll work it out. I have great friends with body shops and exhaust shops and tire and wheel shops willing to help me out on this project, and that will make it MUCH easier, but I'm actually not going to start breaking the truck down until after winter and all the new, needed tools are in the garage. That pesky "financial" stuff will be a stumbling factor as well, but I'm nothing if not determined, so it will get there.
*I could have put a small block chevy/transfer case in it if I wanted to totally butcher the truck, but I'll keep it all Mitsu for the tradition factor and for the conversation factor. Whatever I blow up I can fix !!*

I'm glad you feel that way about the truck. Nothing wrong with wanting more power. Everyone wants it. ;)
