I've got two Mighty Max's, one wrecked and the other not running (yet), so I hope you guys won't mind my questions and I hope I can be just as much help to others on here.
Now the boring story of my first love...
Summer 2003: I was 17 and my family had two vehicles, a 94 Explorer and a 96 Taurus. Both are decent vehicles (at least I think so) but the Taurus's transmission sprung an electrical leak and the magic smoke was lost. Well both me and my father were working, so with only one vehicle between us and my mother things got hairy.
My best friend at the time mentioned my situation to his mother and his mother asked him if I would be interested in his uncle's old truck. I had not owned a vehicle before so of course I was interested! How much? Free!

The silver 1990 Mighty Max had been sitting in a field for a year because his uncle didn't want to bother trying to fix it. It wouldn't start, had 176k miles on it, had a cracked windshield, and had hit 7 deer over the course of its lifetime (or had deer hit it), so he deemed it not worthy of repair at this point. I had my doubts, what with not having done much work on cars at all, but agreed to the deal anyway.
We towed it back to my friends house and started checking the fuel lines since it didn't seem like any fuel was getting to the engine. After a few hours of checking the pump, filter, wiring, etc, somebody got the bright idea that the computer may be at fault. My friend's dad happened to own a 91 Max which was running great. So after a quick swap of the computer my little 1990 Silver Bullet started on the first try.

She wasn't much to look at, lots of dents and a blue front bumper that I had pulled off of another truck (still not sure why he panted it blue) didn't make for a beautiful truck. But she was MY truck, my FIRST truck. So 6 years, 40k miles, and a top end rebuild later, I almost had a tear come to my eye when I wrecked it. Almost two weeks ago now. Got distracted by an idiot swerving towards me from the other lane and didn't see the idiot cutting the honda off in front of me.
No frame damage to my truck but the radiator molded itself around the radiator fan, The truck still runs though and I want to keep it but I'm not quite sure what to do with it at this point.
The same best friend of mine found an ad for an 88 Mighty Max Special Edition for $400. Been sitting in a field for two years with a transmission problem. I bought it last Tuesday for $350 and with the help of his dad's mitsu (the one we pulled the comp out of years ago) and a big trailer, we hauled it to the dealership where I work. The carb needs to be rebuilt and the 4 miles of vacuum hose under the hood needs to be replaced but other than that we think its fine. I'll deal with its transmission after I get it running.
