Im new! 4speed tranny swap

Hello evryone im new to the site
i just bought a 1986 dodge ram 50 from a customer of mine for $700
i love the truck im in the middle of restoring it
i do some commuting for work and using the truck as a daily driver, the truck runs great on the streat but once i take it to the highway and want to take to 70mph the 2.6l is reving at 4000rpm
has anyone ever done a speed swap? what tranny is best? how hard is it?

4000 rpm is corect for the 2.6 with a 5 speed. You could change the rear end ratio to lower the rpm if you wanted.

4000 would be right for a 4 spd at 70 - my 1980 2.6 5 sp w/3.91 turns 3200 at 70. With a 5 sp and 3.55 that your truck should have it should turn about 3000 rpm.
