89 2.0 Factory carb. Takes me almost 30 to 40 mins to start. I don't want to npress the gas cause if I do my high idle kicks in. Whcih In know its too high. What I don't understand is that once my truck is warm I drive it then park it I have to let it idle for 5 mins to keep the choke from opening full throttle. Its a truck that has confused the crap out of me. Help plz

I would first adjust the high idle, and then go from there.
There is an adjustment for it. It's the adjuster that doesn't do crap when it is warm. Pull the air cleaner when it's cold, hit the gas once and adjust it down. If you arn't hitting the gas in cold weather it won't start easy. Thats why they made the auto choke. In cold weather the fuel falls out of supension and the engine dies.

I have tried to do that. But for some damn reason I can't get to the right screw. Kinda funny though as long as I keep it in the garage it'll start without hitting the gas. But If I leave it outside ohhhhh boy anything below 50.....ehhhhh bout 30 mins or so to start. And I live in south florida.....I also saw that a rebulit head from clearwater heads runs for a measly $300.. But yet one guy down here can rebuild it for $160.....that does not sound rigt to me.

i had the same cold start problem . i replaced everything,it turned out to be the ecu. burnt capicators.
i sent it to AVpro co. in ft meyers fl, $160 good as new now.way cheaper than throwing parts at it

ECU? thought mine did not have one. If I am not mistaken its located inside the kickpanel on the passenger side fender. Well if its there I guess I can find the shop in Ft myers. I never heard of them and I live in Ft myers area. But will try to find it.

Just wondering... did you find out if your carburated engine has an ECU?? I have the same hard start problem...
