Possible engine swaps

I recently got my father in law's 86 D50 that was passed down to him from his dad and now has been passed down to me. I'm looking to bebuild this truck into an amazing vehicle. It has the original engine in it at 102,000 miles. It was garage kept for a long time then sat out in the driveway. I am looking for possible engine swaps and need help deciding what I should go with that is within a reasonable price range and of course HP. I would like ideas from everybody and anybody. I really would like to restore the body into perfect condition but with some balls behind it. Any help would be great.

See your sporting the 2.0, Im assuming to be a g63b. Cheap, would be the 4g63 in your case. Plenty of power just tricky timing trains. We got some info about it all around here, its whats Johnboy72 is swapping

x2 on the 4g63t. Drove my truck the other day on a hill and tried to punch it. It wouldn't go anywhere cause the right rear wheel wouldn't catch traction. lol. Can build a monster g4cs 6 bolt 2.4 motor cause its a narrow block compatible with 4g63 parts.

Worst thing about using the stock 2.4 block for the 4g63t swap, is if it gets crazy HP no hichner adapter available

Smog...what is the cut off year? Can't remember but when I was there, pain in the ass getting tested.

I would say look around and see what can find. I had a couple of things fall into my lap. Starion parts and now a complete 4g63T drivetrain. You might visit pull it yards. You also have the minitruck junkyard in cali. But with whatever ya do, research before wasting money. That's what I'm tryin to do.

If ya can't find shit at local yards, give California Mini-Truck Dismantlers a call.

They're in Montclair and just had a nice 30th anniversary spred in minitruckin' Nov 09 issue.
