I had a power box from a quest that I stripped and it didn't look like it would work at all with the pitman arm..
Did you mix n match any parts?
I just picked up a manual box last week.

I used the pitman arm from the truck. Like I said though it put the steering wheel back pretty far (almost 2" if I remember). I scratched the idea and MaxD50 sold me a PS gearbox.
