5 lug front Hub swap for 1st gen 2WD trucks

Postby mackmitsubishi » Wed Jan 06, 2010 8:00 am

I want to start a post for the toyota 2WD front 5lug hub into the Might max truck.
I know it is doable in the second gen trucks but i would like more info on the first gen trucks.
Please chime in if you have detailed info.

Here's some info on a 2gen 5-lug swap. The same info should apply to the 1gen.

im just wondering what the purpose in this swap is, is it the same bolt patter as the small 5 pattern on ford or chevy. whats the deal here? im just curious

It just converts the lug bolt pattern to the more popular 5 lug 4.5" or 114.3mm bolt pattern. The only draw back is the rear axle needs to be swapped out or redrilled to the 5 lug bolt pattern too.

so thats a close match to the ranger pattern isnt it? if im not mistaken the ranger is 4.5 and s-10 is 4.75. i plan on swapping a limited slip 3.73 explorer rear into my truck and was tryin to figure out how to match the bolt pattern to the front. i guess i could just go do some research instead of thread jacking huh lol

I guess the rear axles and drums have no choice but to re-drill

An 8-3/4 mopar axle from an A body car(dart, valient, duster) will fit width wise under a d50- all that is needed is to relocate the spring perches and adapt the driveshaft. Be sure to get the large bolt pattern(5x4 1/2)

I could easily do a 2wd Toyota rear with the 5x4.5 bolt pattern but then redoing all the brakes and brakes cables will be a pain.

I was at me local yard today getting my 2wd front hubs and i hear its 5pm..time to go..they were closing and i only had one hub off and i was still working on the other side...Oh well it was not Gods will for me at the moment.,..
anyone have a front chrome grill?
