the shop i watched to them this weekend took 1/8 inch off at a time, it went like butter, my buddy john did his a few years ago and no cracks, i completely feel cool with this, i was up in the air when i started looking into it but now knowing that Damage has done a large amount since the 80's and never a problem, you just go slow and take off the minimum needed, ill be using a 3/8 bit and going 1/2 inch deep, same as a machine shop would do. and like i said the guys balanced them up with no problems at all.
