drums can go right to hell. They dont work as well as caliper and rotor. Plus with disks you can get a big brake kit. Ever seen a Big brake drum kit? I havent.

I think it has to do with the fact that they are there and their afraid of not having any brakes when they are done. To me, I 100% agree that 4wdisc is the only way to go, but the mess up factor is too great for some to overcome

I am not a fan of the drum brakes either. I actually just got my toyota rear end today for the 5 lug swap and im gonna do the rear disc brake conversion as well.

Me too! I'm also not a fan of brake drum because I don't like the looks and performance of it. Unlike to disc brakes that looks good on the wheels and perform well on the road. Also, I think disc brake are more safe than drum because they stop immediately well especially in high speed driving.

The only advantages to Disk brake is less brake fade , because they can disapate heat faster, Less chance of water fade when splashing down the road. Thats the main advantages. They have just now started to put disc brakes on diesel trucks. But there air brakes. Havent driven one with disc yet to see how much faster she can stop.

Back when Roadway package express started here in Pgh (now FedEx ground) they were running IH Box vans with 4wdisc brakes. I was talking to the maintainance manager about them and he said they were the worst brakes he ever seen - keep in mind this was 20+ years ago and the first apps for rear disc on trucks of this weight class 15 -20K. I still want 4wdisc on my D-50, and will have them come spring with some work and a 9" rear from a 2nd gen monty
