(sorry, i dont know how to embed photos) anyways, other than a bit bigger of tires, how much of a lift can i install without it looking funny (not 4x4) of could it just be a matter of putting new front springs, and rear leaf springs?

thanks for the help in advance guys!!

Don't lift a 2WD truck unless its a hardcore trophy style truck becuause it will ride like shit. You could go the other direction and lower it, you will need lowering blocks and lowering spindels all can be had for less than $400.

Or you can go cheaper and remove the middle leaf, 3 inch angle blocks and cut 2 coils off your front springs. About a 4/5 drop for cheap. Of course spindles you gotta buy new rims, at least 17s.

for the front - dallashodrods can build you control arms that lift or drop - your choice. A good spring shop can make you a set of high lift leafs or you could flip the axle under the leaf springs. Just remember, it will ride rough, handle poorly and could end up looking cartoonish if not executed properly.

Yep. It's got a manly name already. Sorry, I don't wanna get involved with myspace or facebook stuff. Got enough drama in my life as it is. Well, a new paint job is always good.

i know everyone is crazy about lowering these things or lifting them if they are 4x4.

for me, i think the stock 2wd has a great balance between ground clearance and stability. i also like the factory rake on any truck (hate leveled suspension) and actually wish the back springs were beefier so i could take a payload without the rear drooping. also, my opinion is that leaf springs below the axle are butt-ugly!

the plans for my 87 ram 50 call for grafting in a 2nd gen montero trailing arm rear suspension with sway bar, coil springs and disc brakes so it will look like a factory job. i also want to up the front sway bar size and get bigger brakes on the front from a 2nd gen montero. wheels will be the 15" version of the stock 14" 5 spokes on my truck......montero, raider, power ram 50's from '87 all had them.

i want it to be sportier but still look like a stock 87 ram 50.....i love sleeper projects!

Sounds like you got a plan set already. Hope you figure out your alignment strategy. You can always go 4 link and coil springs with a ford 8.8 rear end or Toyota rear end. Both 5 lug swap, both can be rear disc, and both avail with LSD. Just another option you can choose.

Do a sporty retro theme. Like in the 90's my dad's D50 was sporting some "nice" 15" rims with some 50? series tires. Wasn't lowered or anything...just was sporty, had the right stance and fun to drive!!!
