drop spindle question

I have a 86 ram 50, and I would like to get 2 inch drop spindles for it. All I can find are drop spindles for the 87-up. will those work with a little modding? Or does anyone know where I can get drop spindles for an 86?

They will work but you either have to lose the dust shields or cut them to allow for the relocation of the caliper on the spindle. If you choose, you could change over to the 87 up rotors and calipers to give you vented rotors and upgraded performance brake pads. I have the AIM spindles and have checked out both these options, so no guesswork is involved here.

I am running 16" wheels so clearance is not an issue for me. If you are running the stock wheels/offset then yes they would rub, especially the 14" with 5" backspace.

Are those drop spindles as strong as the stock spindles? My truck will see a lot of hard driving, I want it to hold up.

They should as long as you drive it like a normal person; I wouldn't hop a truck with drop spindles.

No, more like racing. I want to be able to drive my truck at 100% and not worry about the wheels coming off.

Either Belltech or AIM spindles should be good for that.
