I'M SORRY I REALLY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO CONTRIBUTE AS I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE 1ST GENS. I JUST COULDN'T HELP BUT POST UP AND TELL YOU YOUR POST REMINDED ME OF SAMUEL L JACKSON.

I HATE PEOPLE THAT ALWAYS CORRECT OTHER PEOPLE'S GRAMMAR, BUT ALL I COULD THINK IS
"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I HAVE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERF***ING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHERF***ING PLANE!"

On the front, swap out the rotors, calipers, and mounting brackets for 2nd gen d-50 parts- the rotors are vented, and Hawk makes performance brake pads that sell on ebay for 9.00 direct from Hawk. It also eliminates the shims, plates ,pins, etc that are a pain to deal with. I'm doing this on both of my 1st gen d-50s soon and will do a pictorial on it for others who are interested.

The 87-89 conquest master may also be a good upgrade- mounts the same on the booster and has a larger bore than the truck. It may need the conquest booster to work right though, I have both and will mock up to see if it works. The rear brakes may be convertible with parts from a 1st gen monty w/ rear discs- haven't found one lately to confirm. If you can find one, it also has a lsd and steeper gears, making for an easy swap of the whole axle. Both vehicles are leaf sprung, so little modding is needed.

does the entire 2nd gen hub fit on the first gen spindle?
this would make the entire swap easier?

I'm assuming they do, they use the same spindle.

I will know shortly - I have a set of 2nd gen hubs w/rotors that I will be using and will let everyone know. BTW, the AIM drop spindles are cast from 2nd gen spindle design and the 1st gen hub and calipers bolt right on, the caliper mounts in a different position - its where I got the idea of the 2nd gen brake swap.

keep us posted on how this swap works..if a 2nd gen hub fits on a 1st gen then toyota 2wd front hubs will also fit on a 1st gen.

2wd toyota hubs do fit - you just need to shim the calipers to fit the different offset of the toyota discs. Twice went to the yards to get the toy hubs but never left with them.
