Mits. Montero or a Dodge Raider

Also, some MM/D50 came with LSD which just bolts right in without swapping out the gears.

Damn, I have been looking under montero and raider too and I still can't find one. I think I am gonna try and get my spare talon lsd rear end and axles to fit if I can't find a raider/montero/MM one.

It’s in the middle of winter and I finally got around in getting my AC compressor installed. Luckily, I had some spare time and it’s been 60degs for a couple of days (not 20-30degs like last week).

For those doing the swap on 1987-1989 MM/D50 just use the same AC that came with the truck. Just swap the AC compressor/alternator bracket on the motor. I don’t have any info for those swapping the 2.6 from the 2.0.

On my 1990 MM/D50 2.4 to a 2.6 turbo swap, I used the 2.4 AC compressor on the Starion 2.6 motor. In order to mount the AC compressor onto the Stariont 2.6 you will need to use the AC compressor/alternator bracket from a 87-89 2.6L MM/D50. The Starion bracket can’t be used, since the AC compressor mounts differently.

Before mounting the MM/D50 2.6 AC compressor/alternator bracket, cut the bottom tab off.

Here’s the AC compressor installed into the 87-89 AC compressor/alternator bracket, but you notice the pulley doesn’t line-up.

Brackets will need to be made to move the AC compressor back about 1” so the pulleys will line up.
Here’s the lower bracket I made bolted to AC compressor bracket.

And here is the AC compressor installed with the upper bracket shown.

On my swap I ended up with one electrical plug to deal with to wire up the AC. It's a BLUE plug with 3 wires: Blue, Green w/ red stripe, and White w/ black stripe. 1990 FSM labels it as plug A-38. (Note: 1991-96 maybe different) The White/Black wire is connected back to the fusible link or any +12V source. The Green/Red wire (which originally went to the 2.4 ecu) is grounded. The Blue wire (which also originally went to the 2.4 ecu) is wired to the AC switch. I "T" into the Blue/Black wire coming from the AC switch. You should be able to access the AC switch wiring plug thru the glove box.

Here's a wire diagram of my AC wiring hookups.

Scored a Delta lockable storage/tool box on craigslist for only $10. Cleaned the inside of the box and mounted to the bed.

They came stock on some trucks. It's basically plugs right into most trucks, you just need to connect the tach wire and replace the oil pressure "switch" with an oil pressure "sender" for the oil pressure gauge. Check this thread: http://mightyram50.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=345&p=2018&hilit=tach+cluster#p2018

Someone on the the board may have one for sale and they go for about $50 - $100.

I maybe hitting a local salvage yard Wed. or Thurs. and I can check if they have one.

I did the tach cluster and never could get the oil pressure gauge to work, I tried sender after sender and just ended up putting a mechanical sender gauge in. I think the section of the board pertaining to the oil gauge was bad.

Grate job Turbo Max on all this useful info on the swap, not only are you explaining it but you also have pics and diagrams is awesome.I ran into the same issue with my a/c and had to mod my existing brackets and fab new pieces. The main reason was that the compressor that was on my truck wasn't that common and hard to come by so I found one that was more common and that could easily be found out at the jukyard. I flushed the system which was quite dirty and vaced and filled and it's been ice cold.

It came off a Ford full size pickup probably a F150. I'm not sure of the exact year, but maybe 85-90 model. There were several ford pickups (Ranger included) that had the same setup.

Just make sure you measure your rear axle before you go hunting for the swaybar so the diff has some clearance. Also, don't forget to grab the brackets that mount to the swaybar to the axle. You'll need to weld in brackets (angle iron will work) to the frame for the endlinks. I also made my own endlinks, I'm not sure if the ford ones are long enough.
