89 Max 2.0 High Elevation?

How would my 89 Mighty Max 2.0 be affected by traveling and living near Colorado Springs, CO for about a year? Lack of power or rich issues from basically sea level (SC) to 6-7k ft above in CO?

Any ideas?

Max's sold for higher elevation areas came equipped with an altitude compensator. The amount of altitude change you're talking about will make a very noticeable difference-pretty gutless. Shouldn't be a big deal to locate the parts needed to fix it, unless your truck is from California, which came with emissions crap specific to that state and may require more work.

is that altitude compensator only installed in high altitudes or can it be run at all altitudes? what all parts does it consist of and how exactly do they work an where could i find them?

I can't find much information on the subject, but I'm inclined to believe it wouldn't affect the way it runs at lower altitudes or there would be some warning about it in the owner's manual. I've had mine at about 2000 feet above sea level and it ran fine there, and at 6000 feet the same.

The high altitude compensator from what i understand only kicks in when the air becomes noticeably thin. If your truck has one equipped driving it at low elevations may make difference until it resets itself or shuts off. I have one on my truck and i live at like 200 ft above sea level and havent had an issue with it. I drive over the mountain often and it always returns to normal when i get home.
