It should have an MD part number in ink. All 4 of my glow controllers have a stamped KT and an inked MD part number.

spence,

i called the place you listed. $195 if they can rebuild it, 18month warranty. $15 to return to you if not rebuild-able. he seemed to have no idea what generally goes wrong with these, no factory support (they can't put in a new board). he will just have to bench test components to find out what is wrong, and R&R as necessary.

i am guessing that the #K8T... is the part number and the 4 digit number is a serial number. the reason i ask is i found a used one with a different 4 digit number.

The part number is md112305. looks like it is going to be around $400 from rock auto. might have to wait on it. Unplug it and the glow plugs don't work at all. I guess I could just bypass it for now.

So I sent the ECU off to the Mitsubishi computer repair shop and they said that it was fine. Except that the contacts under the two little black boxes needed to be cleaned, which he did, and then sent it back. I plugged it in though and it still fires in quick successions after about 5 minutes of warming up. It actually seems like it might be worse. Also, after the initial 5 seconds of the 12v glow plugs, I can hear the computer shut them off and then the truck starts smoking until the truck warms up. In colder weather like the 40's is this smoking normal or should the computer fire 6v to the plugs which it does not seem to be doing? Thanks for any help
