Side Draft Intake

Side Draft Intake

Postby 79D50 » Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:27 pm

This guy was telling me this was made for a early 80-83 G52B 2.0 liter motor. He then went on to tell me this will fit a 2.6 with some modification. The bolt holes aren't even close to lining up correctly and does not look like something can be fabbed.

Thoughts?

I have been looking for a side draft setup for my motor for some time with no luck. Dual side draft 40 DCOE's or even 44's would wake the engine up substantially over the 38MM even with the hogged out intake.
Anyone have one for sale?

Nevermind....I saw another post here in the F/S section: That looks to be an Astron Intake for both a 2.0 and 2.6.

MAXD50: Do you have a line on a gasket set for this? And why will this only work on an Astron engine - 4G5? There is no way to fit it to the G54B? Shit!

The cow's head was nearly crowning....hahahah

My head is an early G54B Marnal built head. I assuming this will work?

If so, what is the recommended carb setup? Mikuni's, WEBER's, Chinese Knockoff's (kidding)....I am thinking the 40's would be more than enough carb for my build but am not sure.

So I also found this for our motors. What is the main difference between this intake and the one pictured above. Any performance gains either way?

Ive got your same intake Paul!!!!! If your really lucky and look long enough you can find a g52b head, I have one thats a good un, freshly rebuilt no jet valves.

Also have one off of a 80 d50 sport complete w/ motor that has jet valves and I'm sure needs rebuilt.

Ive talked to old colt about it he says you can get em cut to use VW air valves and a whole pile of other stuff, I'm stuck on using my g52b intake so I'm gonna do what I can.
