O/D Switch help

Over on MightyD50 we had a thread on the O/D not kicking in until the motor was a a certain temp. Which sensor triggers that. I truck started doing this earlier in the year but since we have been over 100 here for the last 6 months it has not been an issue. With it finally cooling down I would like to fix it now before it is a real issue.

yea i got an auto on my diesel. it came out of a 2.6 and it was a single wire sensor on the intake manifold. if you meter it it will be dead till the temp get warm enough than it will be a constant ground. hope this helps.....

Thanks. I will look for it this weekend. I remember the talk but not where it was. It is fine on my way to work since it is warmed up by the time I hit the highway but when I leave work I jump straight on the high way and it won't kick in for some time.

Had the same 2.6 with O/D on my 88 D-50 sport cab- the sensor was next to the carb i believe. Or you could just ground the wire and the O/D will work any time
