looking for a LSD rear differential

Postby tsiturbomightymax » Wed Jul 29, 2009 1:33 pm

I have heard of people using a later 80's dakota LSD but I want some more options, Any ideas of what will slip right in or with little fabricating?

anyways, when your looking for a raider/montero/mmd50 with an lsd remember to check for the "orange sticker" in the doorjamb.

Nice. I'm thinking about keeping it open cause me+lsd+rain don't mix too good. More options then just the monteri would help me out too.

I didn't see this answered in either post, all front diffs are LSD correct? If not will they also fall under the orange sticker? I am having a hard time finding a LSD diff locally, anyone know of one somewhere out of the northeast USA?

A 83-89 Montero or Raider LSD fit the a 4cyl MM/D50 rear axle. Also, some MM/D50's came with LSD (sport models?).

I swapped a 88 Montero LSD into my 1990 MM/D50. I just had to swap out the ring gear (since it was a 4.625) and it bolted right in.

Mine came from an 88 sport D50 4x4. It was a bolt off / bolt on. No ring gear swap no nothing... if it has an orange sticker, it's LSD. Unbolt the thirdmember, (See pictures above) and unbolt your open dif (your thirdmember) and swap. DIRECT BOLT. Then fill with Limited lip Gear OIL. Mitsubishi specific! Then GO HAVE FUN! :-D
