Phantom Grill

Anyone ever put a phantom grill on their MM? I can't seem to find one anywhere. I think I saw somewhere of cutting down a full size chevy one. Any ideas or pics?

Think it was Sam aka Chopd that said he used fullsize Chevy billet grilles. Believe he said from the square bodied Chevy (73-87)

i found my grill in the bone yard
i had to reses the head lights 1/2 in.
i just beat back the core sport where the light buckets ride

Awesome, to see you post DMR, my good 93+ Mitsu chrome grill got broke and I'm goin phantom with it now.

i have one on my max they have been discontinued best bet will be hunt for a used one or cut down a full size grille

John's 100% correct! It was me rambling on and on about phantom grills! lol

Back in the day, GodFatherCustoms / Trenz used to sell them for $300+ dollars.
They where pre-trimmed, but still required mods to the truck to work (install properly)

I found that by scoring full-size blazer versions, they are around $100 dollars,
AND, best of all, they're HUGE. Enough to center up, and custom trim to hood / bumper combo's.
The only down fall is the mounting tabs on the back side... They will have to come off.

To mode the grill (aluminum) an AC volt TIG welder would be needed.
Quick fix...

METAL ZIP-TIES! Napa sells them.
I used a few to connect the vertical (hidden) bars to some holes in the front end of the truck.
They can't be seen, and they hold great! 10" or 12" in packs of 10 are like $10 bones btw.

**OOPS**
I forgot to add a pic.
To install these grills, the lighting components (lights, buckets, etc) have to be moved inboard.
The old way of doing this was to mod the front support tin, and mount the buckets from the back-side.
The new way is to trim the bucket, and re-mount things as far in (towards the engine bay) as ya ca.
I was crunched for time to I just welded a few mounts where I saw room, and went with it.
Having the lights there made my truck way too easy to pick out at night though. haha

I got my grille on Friday. What did you use to cut the grille, an angle grinder? I'm gonna see if my chop saw will cut big enough for a nice straight line. Also, was any modding of the bracket on the hood release need? It seems with a quick mock up that would prevent the grille from being flush with the corner lights.
