NEW Second gen valence in the house!!

NEW Second gen valence in the house!!

Postby 4X4Smurf » Sat Jan 16, 2010 10:03 pm

I want all new sheetmetal for my truck so I went hunting for all the bolt on stuff and discovered the don't make the front valance for our trucks in the aftermarket (first gen. only) and was told they weren't available from the dealer anymore, but I had my local dealership run a search for one and that turned up 2 supposedly in inventory in Texas, but when called, they could only locate 1.

I told them to ship whatever they had to the place up here in NJ and I would buy whatever they had. So I am now in possession of the LAST known front valenece in Mitsubishi Motors of America inventory.
I am looking into what it would take to reproduce copies of this thing in fiberglass if there is enough interest I'll put in the work, if not, I have a shiny new piece of metal to bolt on my truck.

I've worked with fiberglass molds in the past and could guarantee a good quality piece, but I have to find out how to make the mold itself.
If it will renender the part unuseable to me, I won't do it. I just think it's a good thought to help out the community.
What do you guys think ? http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/ ... g&newest=1

I don't know but fiberglass is easy enough. You could probably cover it in good wax paper then make a mold out of a something like plaster. Or a ridiculous amount of paper machete or something.
