I would bet 10 bucks that the EGR valve was stuck open... That will make it run rough, stall, have no power.

Pull the temp sending sensor and boil it and use an ohm meter to check.

I think your gauge isn't good, level was off and it cracked your head (VERY common with the 2.6's)

Check ALL OF YOUR vacume lines. If there hasn't been ANY previous mtc that has been done, there could be a great number of things to "look at". Even the carb and it's controllers.

we just took the carb off and did the rebuild kit and cleaned everything really good and put it all back together but i dont think the hoses are put back in the right spots.

does any one have a diagram of a stock 2.6L carb vaccum lines? the book was no help because the one they did it on was pre 81 and mine is 89 and it doesnt say how to put it together

If someone doesn't beat me to it, I can get a picture of the diagram under the hood on mine tomorrow night.

Check your motor oil. Is it 'milky'? If so, you cracked something or blew a headgasket.

nope not milky...it was pretty black and sludgy the first time we changed it but we did a motor flush twice and changed it twice and it looks normal

we just rebuilt the carb and its giving us hell..the first time the little round circles on the bottom of the carb would both open at the same time which made the idle extremely high so we did it again..second time we fixed that but then the choke wouldnt shut when the truck was cold so we tried starting it and it leaked gas really bad so we took it off a third time to fix the choke and tighten it so it wouldnt leak but now it isnt running right at all..when you start it it doesnt sound too bad but when you give it gas it breaks up.through all gears at all speeds even reverse..up hills kills it the truck looses all power and cant seem to make it up any incline above 20mph and thats when it breaks up the worst..im pretty sure all the lines are where they should be..we drove 20 miles today and on the way home before we left the stupid thing was leaking gas again at the first gasket on top
