Nice work! I certainly wouldn't be apologizing for it! I get to learn a little of that craft soon, too. Need to do headliner, door panels, and the panel on the back of the cab behind the seat (no earthly clue what that would be called...).

Looks damn good, especially for your first time. I need to do the exact same thing, but going with a more plain look most likely.

I am doing the door panels next and they will have a design formed into the panel. I am also doing the headliner and it will have the same zebra print going up th middle of the headliner as well to follow the theme. Thanks for the compliments =)

Ok today we got my gas tank brackets done and part of the air tank brackets started. Also figured a spot to mount the compressors, but to do that were gonna move the rear most bed mounts back about 6". The compressors will mount on the outside of the frame and need to come back where the factory bed mount is to clear a 20" rim and tire combo. Now for the pics

The one on the left with the huge goatee is a club member lol and the guy on the right is my boyfriend. Him and his friend did the cutting because he said that it was a little difficult so I took some pictures and worked on the back half with the grinder and welded some. Currently I am waiting for the 4 link from LRD and my drop spindles. Today we are working on the cross members and welding the cab back together. I will take more pics =)

LoBeauty
04-13-2012, 10:12 AM
Payrion: We want it to be as quite as possible in the cab so at this point I am unsure where its going..I think it going in the rear =)
LethalEthan: Thanks it took a while to drill threw the steel and we friedone of my drills .. smoking and everything lol..
Fordubishi
04-13-2012, 11:18 AM
the muffler will be fine either way as long as the exhaust dumps outside the body not under the a floor. My first build I just dumped the exhaust after the muffler and at 60-70mph in OD the thing droned like a Mo-Fo under the bed so bad I had to take it out of OD after 10 minutes of driving. My current build the exhaust will dump out the sides of the box just in front of the rear wheels. The mufflers are under the cab floor and are Dynomax Ultra flows and all I hear is the exhaust at the tips.

Workin on a body drop right now myself and tryin to decide were to cut on the fire wall at. What made you choose were you did? Had you seen someone else do it right there? Is there ganna be a space issue with the brake booster? Your interior is great for your first time!!! Project is lookin good to. For my tranny cross member I cut the nuts of the back and used a 1/8" or 3/16 in plate with bolts weled flush then just welded 1 1/2' square to it and used stock mounting bracket, then just tighten the nuts down on top of mounts almost like stock but not welded on. Good luck, and keep up the good thjread!
LoBeauty
04-17-2012, 05:01 PM
The firewall was planned by staring at it for about an hour or so and figured the cuts we made were the best spot for when the cab fell the sheetmetal would line up the best. As for the steering and brake booster part buy cutting it where we did the booster stayed in the same location as did the steering box hole. Also kept the gas pedal mounts and almost everything important on the drivers side stayed where it needed. However with z'ing the frame for the engine craddle the steering box hole will have to move up the amount of the z but I'll still have space between that and the brake booster. Thats a good idea for the trans member but sense I have to drop the motor the reverse about of the z for the stock hood clearance I'm just gonna fab up an entirely new trans crossmember. I already have the steel for it in the garage.

What is the easiest way off dropping or lowering the engine a 1.5"? Also what is the easiest way to z the frame an all this with the body still on the frame and the engine in place? Should we just pull the motor and tranny to do all this? Does anyone have a picture or a link thread that could help?

I've z mine and have pics but I need a minute to find what file/location there in to share. Yes pull the motor and trany. By z-ing it u raise the motor and can cut the motor mounts off and lower them. I'm lowering mine bout 5/8 but also notched and reinforced the crossmeber. Here is my custom compared to stock.http://i889.photobucket.com/albums/ac92/laidoutmits/white%20mits%20project/DSC03731.jpg

Christ,,,, If you blink, you miss what happened.. This is one fast build thread. Someone is getting help.... Thats cheating,, LOL. I'm pretty sure it's in the rules. Lets look and see...
The rules:
#1 You must own a Mitsubishi.
#2 It must frustrate you with break downs.
#3 You can use a Haynes Manual but it won't have the information you need.
#4 You must work on it in secrete other wise your friends make fun of you.
#5 You must drive it into the grave with you.
#6 You must rebuild it using three times the money it cost new off the lot.
#7 You can only sell it at a loss.
#8 Friends can help you but, they can not confirm or deny the true location or existence of such said truck.
#9 There is a 2 drink minimum when they help.
#10 You must become a member of the MightyRam50 web site to show off your work on things that may, or may not exist.
Hu,,,, how you like that,, Your not cheatiing... Looking good.
Did I miss any??

We got to get the forum members together in one place with mag coverage - especially the pink trucks!!! The pink truck from PA in minitruckin used to be on the old forum as bernie lomax but he hasn't come to the new one yet.

theres a few pics on streetsource, asphaltassualt, and a few others. Were hoping we got a background shot in a few of the shows for the magizines. Right now its sitting in the garage awaiting the interior to be fully painted and few odds and ends to get fixed. Enjoy

Whoa! That's awesome! One question though, what did you do with your muffler? I can't get mine to fit where it use to and now I have to figure something else out.

Muffler is still in stock location and its a smaller muffler I think. It was already done when we got the truck but it didn't have to be changed. We just had to cut it short to run it through the crossmember. So far every show I've taken it too I've taken home a trophy except one show that did top 25. Sunday we got another trophy and even more pics.

Hey guys I will have nancy update this thread asap. Truck is down for the winter shes getting alot done before the show season starts. Lets just say motor swap lots of cool sheetmetal work and a new firewall. Plus her interior is gonna get redone professionally and full stereo. She's got tons of pics to upload. She has pulled a trophy or two from every show that truck has attended except two shows. Our trophy wall is full from a show season and a half. Also getting a new tail skin and leds with a possible few bed changes. Dash will be finished and well as changing over to a billet steering column and wheel. Big plans just gotta get started.

Tink is having a moment everyone,:lmao:. There is nothing better in the world then a girl pulling up next to you and she is driving the same exact truck your driving.
OH WAIT! there is one more thing..."A girl that gets out of her truck and fixes your truck on the side of the road and gets it running again".
That would be a soul mate....

Hey guys and gals I know its been a long time but we're back! Sold off the pink one and bought another 93 bagged on escalade wheels. Super clean truck and needs small touches. The pink truck a good friend has it and cruises it everywhere. It's on its second motor and transmission. But the suspension and body drop is rock solid to this day.

Just read the previous posts and yes the outside of the pink truck looks rough but it changed hands a few times before it got to my buddy now. The 2 guys it went to before trashed it pretty good and my buddy has no where but outside in OR to work on it. The interior is pretty much the same except the bench seat. He's got his won twist on how he wants it to look. He's the only one that was able to get the brakes to work like they should. I can't remember how to load pics so I can show the new one we got.
