I had to put a pulley off a chevy luv on my 84 d50 today to get it running. We had to make the holes bigger(not good I know) but it had to be done. It is a bigger diameter/cirfumference(the circle is bigger so needing a bigger belt) so I am scared that it will turn my water pump too fast and over work it? Will it matter how big the pulley is?I think it's heavier too.

If you put it on the water pump and the outside diameter is larger it will run slower. But if you put it on the crank it will run faster. It will be fine ether way tell you can get the correct one.
If it's out of round then you will have a fist full of problems. The pump is hub piloted, it's centered by the center hole not the bolts. Crank is bolt piloted not hub. Ya know what I mean?
The only guy that needs to worry about the speed it's running is LSR Mike @8500 RPM.

Just as long as it spins nice and true no wobble or out of round it will last. I've done a hole lot worse then that over the years.

was it the water pump pulley you swapped out or the crank?

Ya your cool. it will turn a tad slower.
See the video above in the link, on how to change a VW belt. It's how I did it all the time when I had my Baja.

Unless you are going to try to break LSR Mikes land speed record or jump it higher then I plan to with my truck I would not loose any sleep thinking about it. But you can ask LSR what he has on his pump and crank. I think it's stock or under sized. By under sizing the pulleys you get more HP. But I don't recommend it for your truck.
