Good mornin.. What's the stock stall in the early auto's converter?
I did my swap to this 86 and going to bolt the flex plate to converter, I have the flex plate backwards:(.
SO, NOW I have to pull the trans just to flip it around and while I'm in there, I thought of getting my converter configured up to a 2500 stall.. $100 +shipping.
BUT, I didn't want to spend that much for only a 2-300 stall gain..

Your guess is as good as mine on this one. Maybe someone will out there can drop there truck in gear and stand on the gas while looking at the tac to see what it is. I have never seen this question asked before.

That will show you the stall. Trany not turning while engine running as fast as it can while not moving in gear gives you the stall. So an 800 RPM stall is just that. 800 RPM and the engine is stalling, or not turning any faster for a given amount of HP. So there is always an 800 RPM difference at the most. I would guess stock must be around 1800. If you look in the manual section for the UTI manuals there is a hole section in there just for torque converters and how they come up with that. Makes for about a 10 minute read and the info is good to know. Lots of insite on the working parts.
