Hey kids. Just thought that I would share some pics of the trans in this '86 that I have.

I used to get all up tight when someone would say.. "Oh, just go to your local junk yard and git yerself a 'narrow auto trans" and you can just bolt it up..."

Well, I would rather have a few GOOD pics versus just a vague description..

BECAUSE.. Here are some pics of a 1987 auto trans that ISN'T a narrow bell housing mounting.. It's a WIDE bolt pattern

I'll try and get a few pics of the pan of the narrow trans.
These might help more for someone searching where one CAN'T get under the vehicle for a look-see..

If you could, please make this into a thread in the Wiki (http://www.mightyram50.net/vbulletin/showwiki.php)also. Use "Transmission Identification" as the Name space or title. This way It will automatically be made into a link to that page of the wiki. Like when we type in the word history. Then other people can add what they learn to the thread. Also please upload the pictures as an attachment to the wiki (http://www.mightyram50.net/vbulletin/showwiki.php). It make for thumbnails for the Pict's that can be clicked and moved around. As much info as possible on the trans is good. Some day we will have a good amount of hard information on these trucks for reference.
