2" pipe, Resonator, a nice walker (dynomax) or Flowmaster muffler and have the pipe exit out from under the box. You might also need a Cat instead of the resonator depending on the emission laws in your area.

would you recommend the same set up for more of a performance based exaust?
I'm looking so a nice sound but not that ricer honda sound

here is what I did and was cheap and sounds AWESOME.. it's quiet but has a nice little rumble (and not even a 4banger rice rumble it sounds decent)
pacesetter header (I had to get one because my truck had 0 exhaust and the manifold was shot) running with a 2.25" pipe into a thrush glasspack (used in place of a cat $20 and exactly the same as a cherry bomb or normal glasspack) then 2.25" piping back to the stock muffler location where I have a $40-50 2.5" thrush welded muffler (dont remember exact $ but it was $20 cheaper than the flowmaster and has just as good of a design) after that I just have it coming out on the passenger side in a 2.5" tailpipe
I'm honestly amazed at how it sounds (I HATE 4cylinder sounds) but this is much much nicer than expected. all in all with the price of labor muffler glass pack and pipe (which was custom bent and installed at my local rural muffler shop) I have $170 in the exhaust (not counting the header which basically doubles the cost
Can't go wrong with it for a cheap but nice sounding exhaust... I still don't get how it can be so quiet with no cat and fairly open exhaust
EDIT: to go with the above comment thrush is a dynomax product (not sure what the deal is with seperate names ??)

k is yours a 2.0,2.4,or the 2.6 cause mine is the 2.6 extendo cab ram and does any one know where the stock exaust exit local. Might be on my ram cause the dude i bought the truck off of yers lived onbase and gutted the stock exaust and took it to the macanics bay on base and had them fab up the piping off of an army hum-v to fit on the ram that dumped off under the cab its truly deffining its so free flowing that this past winter when the motor blew it cracked the header which in a way was a good cause now i get to build the motor the way i wanted to

2.6 goes under passenger side back behind the passenger tire

Neither it will resonate under the floor either way and you will have a very annoying drone at some constant speeds.Just do a turn at the muffler and have the tip exit in front of the wheel sticking slightly out from under the box

Gutted cat and unbolt the rear exhaust under the cab. Lol.
No cat with a max speed exhaust under the cab where the cat is supposed to be and exit before the right rear tire is what I did.

Yeah mine used to dump out right behind the cab under the bed and it would drone inside the cab at steady cruise. It was louder sitting inside the truck then standing outside of it.

Pacesetter header and flowtech warlock muffler from JCWhitney and 2" piping with no cat. My truck rumbles and pop's a little. don't go too big or you will loose backpressure, generally half an inch bigger is ideal. When I open the muffler bypass I lose alot of low end and gain a little top end. I think 2" is the perfect size increase with a full length exhaust.

What ever you do, make sure you have it exit out. Like most, I had it dump behind the passanger side and it was loud as heck!

i am in process of installing and fabing from a stock header and pipe to the factory cat. Then i have 2-1/4 ss pipe - cat - 22" round 4" magnaflow- 90degree mandrel bend exit in front of rear passanger tire with dual 3" round rolled tip. Do you Guys think 2 1/4 is to big i have a slightly bigger cam with weber carb on a 2.6L?

I'm still trying to find headers for the 90 2.4. My manifold is cracked too. The pacesetters where did you find them?

NLA on the pacesetter for the paired port motors. DG headers on here is the one place you can get a high quality one. There is an Australian one also, but it needs massaging to fit the US trucks properly
