Well I sold my VW beetle and as part of the sale was delivering it to the ship yard in Jacksonville. I have a small trailer I built just for the car I'll be using to tow it with and I'm all good on a class III hitch on the truck as well. I did a search on towing and the only thing I could find out was to tow in 4th gear so I'll keep the speed to around 55mph and I'll watch my braking distances as well. The car weights 1700 #'s and the trailer is 750 #'s. Should I be okay or look for another means of towing.

The truck is good for at least 3500 # so you will be fine. Since you are not going up hills, you could tow in 5th gear without problems.

The problem with towing in 4 gear is the pocket Bering over heats and destroys the input and out put shafts. I found that out the hard way. I recommend never using 5th unless you are going down a slight hill. Keep in mind these trucks were built when the max speed limit was 55 so there built around that.

Ya that day sucked. The trans would make a winding noise in every gear but 4th then it was gone.
