Got a good deal on a head unit and 10 disc changer.
Got it all ready and need to find out what wires are what.
Yes, I got the tester out and found the "hot" but that's about it.
It's not the usual red/black/yeller. It's the speaker wires that don't make sense.
AND, are there 'rear' speaker wires that are in the stock harness but taped off if that option wasn't used..??
I'm planning on making a wooden adapter panel utilizing the vent thingy on top of the dash by the windshield for the tweeters and midranges in the doors and of course, 8" woofers under the seats.
If someone can shoot a schematic to me or post here, that would be a GREAT help.
I'd like to have it working this weekend.
Thanks Errol

Probably not much help, but I just chased my wires when I did mine. far as I know it just has existing wiring for the dash speaker and 2 doors, single ignition hot, and a ground. Someone before me ran wires for the rears. Also pretty sure you will need to add an open circuit wire for the memory and all that. The stock head unit was, well...old.
Make that archaic...

The wires in the door are just black and red. and don't know how far in the harness they change to ______.
SO, I really don't want to pull the dash just to install a dag-gum radio.
It couldn't be that goofy. Heck, back then it was all laid out for installers right?
Where will I find these archived?

if there are speakers installed, a lot of times a 9v battery and a quiet work area are all you need to check which wires go to which speakers. Touch the battery contacts to a pair of speaker wires until you get slight static through a speaker, then tape/tag them. When I wired up stereos over the years on butchered harnesses this is how we found them.

well chances are if the wires are there they're ovr 25 yrs old. if i were u i'd just run new wires to all the speakers. thats what i usually do on old cars. i dnt trust the factory wires w/ these new HU's, speakers, etc.

I do the same - the original wires are very light gauge wire and won't carry the power of the head unit or aftermarket amp output. Plus you know which is which then.
