flasher fuse help

I ran into a problem when replacing my flasher fuse in my 84 ram. The weird thing is that the fuse is an intverted fuse? Me or anyone at o'reillys has ever seen one so my question is, how do I replace it? I can't find where to buy one. The only solution I could think of was to buy a new pigtail and rewire an aftermarket one. Any ideas?

That's weird. I replaced mine with a couple of the LED Grote units and they worked fine. Before that I had a Silviana heavy duty 2 prong flasher in it.Now I know the hazard flasher is 2 plugs and can be put on backwards and not work but the turn signal is a L shape and can only go on one way.

84 lists both a 3 prong and a 2 prong flasher so best to check what one you need, they might have given you a 2 prong but you need a 3 or visa versa.

Funny thing is that it is a 4 prong flasher.. It works hazards, blinkers and brake lights. I'll post a picture.

4053 this one is the plug from the writing harness to lights or whatever
4054 this is the flasher. Never seen one before. Any ideas.

LOL that's the seat belt timer. the Flashers is a triangle black box with pink writing with an L shaped plug on a small bracket screwed into a mount under the dash. There is a round silver pot with a double plug beside it that's the hazard flasher. They are located behind the side vent tube so you have to look up behind it to see them.

There is nothing under there that looks add what you described. Could you somehow post a picture?

Turn on the hazard and fallow the click noise. The turn and hazard are 2 different units. But they will both be a 2 prong unit.
Turn, hazard, and brake are 2 separate fuses. So if one goes the other should work. If you blue the turn fuse then there is a short somewhere.

A heads up on the Grote flasher. It takes 1 amp of draw to work. I can't get them to flash with all LED lights, They make a 3 prong one that should take 1/4 Amp to work. I will get them and try again. I will try to keep this updated.

If you put a resistor in series with the turn signals bulbs, then a regular flasher will work. It adds enough load to cause the flasher to cycle.

yes but what size and how big? What ohm and what watt? There is no rule of thumb I have found for the application we are using.

can u keep the original flasher unit if u keep one incandescent and one LED on that circuit? for example if i leave my front turn signal bulb in there (incandescent) and replace the rear signal bulb w/ a LED one. I shouldnt have hyper flashing even w/ the stock flasher unit since the incandescent bulb and LED together obviously have more than 1 amp draw, right? im confused as shit. lol

I will find the article I saw that explained how to work out the values for the resistors and post it on here. BTW, even the led bulb manufactors don't get it right - I had a set that was supposed to work in my gfs silverado and they blew the fuses for the taillights as soon as you hit the brake pedal.

thanks camoit for confirming it yesterday. I trust relays more than adding resistors and such.. based on my understanding, in this case, stock flasher relay will cycle just fine if the draw is greater than 1amp.

no, they can be reached from under the dash without removing it.

With the flasher and LED lights. I have found that some will flash with all LEDs some won't.
This goes the same with some of the special flashers that are "made" for LED lights.
This one will flash no matter how little draw there is. This is the one I used.
