transfer case

anybody know of any transfercase upgrades like better gears or different transfer case all together? i have the 2.6 4x4. want to be able to drive down the street with 32's or 33's at highway speeds but have enough torque for a bit of climbing. (nothing serious)

4.22s or 4.63s will restore your power. Look for 1st gen monteros or 2nd gen 4wd trucks with off road package on it - sticker will be on pumpkin. 2nd gen monteros had 4.63 gears, but the axles are bigger - rear is the indestructible 9" mitsu - better than a ford 9"

just swap the gears and not the whole rears correct? and i should be good on the highway?

spx off road was the one I know of - came with 4.22s and rear lsd and 31s if my memory serves me right. May have been on the v6 models.

see the other posts on here about that - it will load the drivetrain down by lowering the gear ratio due to the big tires

wouldnt bigger tires treat the gears as if there higher? thats why offroaders use the lower gears to even them out so original rpms are obtained?

remember lower gears are higher numerically. Also the revolutions per mile are less with a taller tire and that causes you to run at lower rpms out of the power band of the motor.
