View Full Version : rear pumpkin brake valve spring thingy???

83 4x4. What's it do?
Looks like the spring gets tensioned when the diff pivots pass side down, driver side up. The spring pulls on a lever on on a frame mounted brake (proportioning?) valve the has 1 innie and 2 outties.

Whazzit do?

best i can figure its for when you have a heavy load in the back of the truck, it adds more brake pressure to the rear brakes to help in stopping

You would be correct sir. If your going to lower truck your gonna wanna unhook the spring. I removed the entire thing. No probs.

Hey I live in Tucson az bro. There's a certain type person that lowers 4x4s all the time on 20s. Lol

true - it also takes a certain kind of person to jack up a caprice and put 30" rims on it too... just joshin ya...
