Hey Guys,

New here from Canada, had my D50 Power RAM for almost 2 years now.

Unfortunately my Mikuni Carb has decided to die on me and to get it rebuilt is way to pricey, so i'm wanting to change over to the Weber carb. I found a few kits online but just wondering what is the right one for the 2.6L manual transmission.

is it the 32/36 or the 38?

The 32/36 is the closest to stock replacement, the 38/38 is only for a modified engine-camshaft, headers, ported and polished. I have the 32/36 on mine and it runs very well, more power and smoother.

Does the 32/36 need a fuel pump to make it run? or can I get away without one? also is it better to get one with a electric choke, manual, or automatic?

Hi good to see another D50 uo here in Canada EH, same problem with my old carb went with a Weber28/26 kit did not need new pump runs fine with stock one,mine has electric choke on the Weber

how did you wire in the electric choke?

Don't you already have an electric choke. If not just run a wire to the fuse box.

Used the stock eletric choke wire from thr stock carb, wher in Canada are you at??

ya ill have to run a wire to the fuse box as i have a automatic choke.

i'm in Manitoba.

D50 / RAM 50 owners are rare as hens teeth up here in Canada, so far only the odd beaters around Vancouver, B.C, makes it tuff to find spares for my 79 D50 Sport

I know what you mean. Most of the salvage yards have long since crushed most of the stuff as old as our vehicles. Found an 88 on Kijiji over the winter that was 80 km from home but when I saw it it was disappointing. It would not have made the drive home. My 88 2wd came from BC in a tractor trailer about 7 years ago, that's where the other one went.:grin: I went to North Carolina a few years ago to find parts and came home with a truck load. I saw quite a few 1st gens there. Have you looked on Craigslist for trucks and parts in the U.S.? I see guys parting out trucks on there from time to time.

you can run the 38/38 with the cam and header - it will wake that motor up - no need for the port or polish with the 38.

Get a jet kit to dial it in, either carb. They work best when tuned in. The 32/36 will be better for economy, the 38/38 for all out power.
