There was a guy at the original web site that did offer to build some for our trucks, back then he wanted $500 plus shipping and his work looked great. Maybe some one else will remember that guy?

I could get you a hard price but it won't be cheep. But if you wanted to go that way then you might as well go all the way and add in cowl induction.
I just talked with Jeff, my fiberglass guy that built the body for my build truck. He would need to make a mold from the hood I have 1980. So that would require some light body work to get it ready to make a mold from. He needs to know if you only want a skin or do you want the under structure built into it. If it was a skin only then it would be a lot less expensive. But with under structure it would run about $2200.00 plus shipping. But then you own a mold to build and sell more from.

back on the 80's John Baker Performance sold a fiberglass hood for 1st gen and fenders with bigger wheel openings for 4wd trucks 1st gen. Good luck finding one of them - quality was poor and not many were sold.

Thanks for the replies.I do not think I want to spend that much money to only lose 25-30 lbs off the truck.6109

So 340D, What does that truck do in the 1/4? Do you need sand bags in that bed to keep the tires from lighting up down the track. Also notice you have no roll bar! Is that legal in your class. I was just wondering what your requirements were to be able to run that truck in a drag sanctioned race.
You might be able to create your own fiberglass hood using your own hood for a mold. Put release agent on it and lay your casting material over it. When it dries, you will have your hood mold after you release your hood from the stuff. Probably more trouble then it's worth to you though.
Truck Bed covers with snaps Good prices looks like

Only 1/8 mile tracks down here but it should be in the high 9's in the 1/4 and mid to high 130's mph. It has a roll bar in it but they have never even looked at it at the tracks I race at. The best it has run in the 1/8 is 1.34 60ft., 6.34@ 109 mph.so far. It carries the front tires about 20-24 in. for about 40ft. with drag radials and caltrak bars.6130It is a pump gas small block with mufflers also.

Not bad for an un-aerodynamic brick down a strip. Gotta luv a V8 in a minitruck that's for sure. 1/8 mile seems a little to short for fun, though if I am not mistaken...regular drag racing only do 1000 feet instead of a true quarter mile, correct me if I'm wrong.

Full 1320ft at most drag strips. If its 1000ft they call it a 1000ft not a 1/4 mile.

I am pretty sure there are probably 100's more 1/8 mile tracks in the U.S. than tere are 1/4 mile tracks. There are only 2 1/4 mile tracks in my whole state and at least 10 1/8 mile tracks within 80 miles of my house.

If you want me to ask how much for just a hood skin I can find out for you. Or you can ask him your self. I know it will be less expensive but IDK how much.

I need to get you up to Wilmington, Ohio to run the mile with me, you'll never go back to the short strip!

Shit I would go, just the adrenalin alone would be a kick. Though I don't think it would be comfortable sitting on the floorboard during the ride.:lmao:

He could use the old county recycle bins and make it a full bench seat and have 2 places to rent out during a run. Kaching $$$$$

I was just thinking about this little fun ride and I think we all can fit in the truck at the same time!!!! though we would be in the bed of the truck and if you don't mind ear popping as you approach the speed of sound it wouldn't be so bad, lol.
