I got one of the option sport instrument panels. And it installed pretty much plug-n-play, just a little re-routing for the speedo cable.
Everything seems to work fine except the tach.
Is there something extra I need to do? Where does the tach pick up its signal from?
:(

There is an orange single wire plug somewhere on the passenger side firewall/wheel well area. Something needs to be done with it, I think connected to another open plug in the same area.

wiring is all in a loom
I did figure out that there needs to be a lead from the - of the coil

If its 90+ 2.4 then its already wired for it. Just needs a plug connected as I said

Found it!
It's a white wire w/black stripe, one end of the connector is black and the other end is a red~orange color.
The leads are floating free from the loom against the firewall on the passenger side, below the harness connectors mounted next to the VIN plate.

I'm so happy now! :))

Yeah I learned this too. Mine was hanging there I just had to plug the male into female connectors that were side by side hanging on the firewall and the tach came to life.

Junkyards or people selling them. I think slow50 has one in his d50 goodies for sale thread.

hey guys, I have a 1989 2.0L mighty max. stock instrument cluster with tach, but the tack is not working. I was searching for the wires mentioned above but there is nothing. Should i be looking under the hood or in the cab of the truck under the dash? thanks
