Your kind of stuck with what you got but you can build one longer is thats what you are after. Just keep in mind the shifter is a week point to keep people from jamming the gears hard.

Don't older jeeps use some of the same transmissions? May be able to find a longer wrangler shifter. If not, just have an extension welded to the one you've got.

a conquest / starion has the same shifter - there are extensions available on ebay that screw to the top of the shaft in place of the shift knob

Hopefully by this weekend I can get to some more junkyards in search of the shifter thats the only thing keeping me from moving it to a set location for rebuild

Hmm, looks like a drill and re-tab the T-case for a 7/16 bolt?

Looks like your missing a bolt from the picture. Maybe new bolt, and large washer around the other 2 bolts to hold it down? Don't forget the gaskets above and below the shifter spacer or you'll leak gear oil.

the housing on the tailshaft that the shifter bolts to is a separate piece that unbolts from the tailshaft. if its broken it can be replaced.

Well if that top plate is broke I got like 2 spares that do me no good, and a spare shifter.
