So i have owned this truck for the past few months, its the most dependable vehicle i have ever owned. I got it for free from a friend with a bad alternator, bad starter, bad battery, and the suspension is well past its prime. I have since replaced all of those parts other then the suspension, and thats what i'm currently focused on. I'm hoping to eventually fix all the body work and maybe do a swap somewhere down the line. My questions I had were if i get belltechs 2.5 inch drop springs for the front, and 3in block kit for the rear-end can i use stock s-10 shocks instead of drop shocks? I'm currently a college student so i'm on a bit of a budget. 68786879688068816882

I got my belltech kit for pretty cheap from summit racing. It was the lowering springs, front and rear drop shocks and 3in blocks. It was half off org price. Take a look at them part #436sp

my first was a 90 MM, very dependable....over 230,000 miles. I'm now on # 2. But I went a different route with 2" drop spindles (used Craigslist) and 3" blocks in rear. You can retain stock shocks this way...But it's a toss up $ wise either way.

You can use stock s10 shocks in the front. But if your going with a lowering coil you should look into drop shocks.

I ordered the 3 in blocks and drop coils from beltech. What are some good shocks to run with this setup?
Thank you for the help guys

The bell tech nitro active drop shocks are damn good, but a little pricey. I've had my same set for 6+ years and they are still going strong.

i like toxic shocks but i perfer a stiffer ride. they're about $40 on summit racing.

My kit came with nitro 2s. No problem so far

Do s10 shocks only work with on the front end with stock coils? Or will they work with the rear end too? My dads got some shocks sitting around, and i havent had a chance to drive over there and compare.

A stock s10 rear shock won't work. They are set up differently. The bottom has a bigger sleeve in the bushing and the top is set up for two nut/bolts.

I have to run drop shocks with the blocks and drop coils right? Sorry just trying to make sure i have everything that i need and that i dont order the wrong parts haha.

So heres some more pictures. This truck shows definite signs of mistreatment over the past 23 years. But it is the most dependable little truck, and i'm doing my best to treat it right lol.694069416942

I've been working on stripping some of the paint and smoothing portions of the body out. I think i'm just going to wait and get a new bed at some point though.

Hey, don't go repainting that bad boy just yet! The slammed to the ground, rusted body panel, sticker bomb thing is popular now among the kids these days. It's called the "stance" look.

haha i've been leaning more and more towards that, i'm probably going to go that route. well atleast for awhile until i get sick of it. I was thinking some nice stance, a volvo lip, HID's, and some summit racing 85 series rims on slightly streched tires.

Volvo lip, eh? What does that look like?

Check out Cragar Deluxe 69 smoothies and whitewalls if you're going for a stance look, they make them in 6x5.5. Not expensive, either.

Old GM steel wheels fit our trucks, too.

If you want to keep the skate rat, down-and-out surf punk look, saw out the banged up bed floor, weld in some supports and replace it with bamboo floorboards from Home Depot. Super cheep. And keep all of the stickers and raw sheetmetal for the rusty "patina."

And please ditch that hideous neon green painters tape in the cab!

Nice truck, man, welcome to the club.

So i'm getting a bit confuzzled, I can only find nitro 2 drop shocks for the rearend on my truck. Do they only sell the individual shocks for the back and not the front? If so whats a good shock to run in the front with the drop coils? I've got boxes of parts piling up by my door and i think all i have left to wait on is the shocks before i redo the whole suspension.

Update: Redoing all the suspension work, new timing belt and tensioners, cleaning up the cab, and putting some offbrand racing seats in with possibley 4-point harnesses on thanksgiving. I'm about to order new rims and tires. I'm thinking some 15x8 rims with 4in backspacing on 225/50/15 Kumho Ecsta AST's. Would this be a good setup with my 2.5in-3in drop?
I'll post pics when this is all done.

Btw the Kumho Ecestas are amazing tires. Never have any slip in the wettest of conditions, i even had her out in the snow and the only time i lost traction was when i was making the truck lose traction haha. The truck corners extremely nice now, doesnt even seem like the same truck.

Also heres a pic of some seats my dad gave me. I'mgoing to fab them in when i have some spare time.7771

This looks like a car that catches frisbees. That, or the guy drove through Roswell. :swerve:

Had the Edsel remained in production, I'm sure it would eventually have stuck its tongue out like that.
