I think i am having problems with my air flow meter. I have a 1990 MM 2.4 5 speed. I tried to look up a air flow meter online for it and it is showing a perfectly round one that fits the round air filter box where as my truck has the oval airflow meter and the more square shaped air filter box.

All the 1990 MMs that I have been looking at online all have the round air filter box. Is it possible that someone has changed mine or did they make some 90s with a round air filter and some with a square air filter?

I need to try to get this figured out ASAP as this is my only vehicle and it is barely drivable right now.

Thanks

Pull the connector and look at the pins. I think(not 100% sure) the 91+ had 1 more pin or something like that. It could have only been for eclipses but no harm in checking.

my truck was built march, so your is a later build date, usually may or later is the next model year, since you have the square mas air flow look for one for a 91 AND UP

OK thanks. I went to a junkyard today and had a look around. I found a few MMs and D 50s all but one or two were carbed and the air flow meter was missing on the ones that were fuel injected.

I'm going to hit up a few more yards on my next day off so maybe I will get lucky and come across one.

perfect, look for a maf sensor from a 91-96 mitsubishi expo lrv, eagle summit wagon, plymouth vista wagon. they use the same maf as the mighty max , just make sure it has the same 182 number

Ok thanks for the info. Is it just the "182" that has to be the same or does it have to have the "0530" too? I am going to another junkyard tomorrow that said they have one or two of theses trucks to look around and see if one has the air meter.

If not does anyone know where a used on is for cheap? I dont really have alot of money and I need this thing running right since its my only vehicle :(

Whats cheap?

Cheap as in I might be able to come up with $20 or $25 to spend on one. I'm not trying to be cheap or get something for nothing I am just broke right now. To make matters worse my wife is pregnant with the due date being less than a month away so we could have to go to the hospital at any time so I need to make this thing dependable. I sprayed the hell out of it with some cleaner and it seems to be doing better but IDK how long it will last.

All the junkyards here tell me if they have it they will take $20 for it but I've been to a couple different yards and no one has one.
