Painting the dash is not impossible, but it sounds like you need to determine if it is good enough to paint. Once you figure out if its good, then clean the dashpad with a good detergent cleaner - TSP (tri sodium Phophate) used to clean walls for wallpapering, or the non-phophate equivalent, will remove all vinyl dressings that may have been applied in the past. Then use wax and grease remover, then an adhesion promoter sprayed onto the dashpad will give the paint the ability to stick properly. Geronimo's dashpad was painted this way 22+ years ago and there is no signs of peeling or cracking.

The dash is in great condition, Im just not a big fan of the blue dash, Thats why I want to paint it, I was this painting it black and all the trim pieces dark ford blue so paint the blue stuff black and the black stuff dark ford blue
