2.6 block

I purchased two 2.6 engines that had manual trannies behind them. My montero has an auto in it. The blocks are different where the bell housings bolt on. What other differences are there? Will the 2.6 fit a 2.0 manual trans? I noticed that a guy is looking for an engine and he is in TN but his is a 2.0. Just wandering if I could be of any help to him before I try and contact him.

the 2.6 manuals are wide blocks, the auto 2.6 thru 86 were narrow blocks. if you have a 2.6 auto block, it will work with a 2.0 narrow block manual tranny

Thanks Pennyman. The two that I have are both manual blocks. Are there any other differences? Wandering which parts I should keep for mine. I know the heads will work.
